Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures

$1,050.00

Take your diving to the next level with our combined Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures course. This course is designed for divers ready to extend bottom time, plan staged decompression dives, and use up to 100% oxygen for accelerated deco.

You’ll learn how to safely conduct dives beyond recreational limits with the planning, equipment, and mindset required for deeper, more technical profiles. Whether you're looking to explore shipwrecks, caves, or simply push your limits, this is the foundation of your technical diving journey.

Weekend 1: Foundational Technical Skills

  • Gear Configuration: Setting up and managing technical dive equipment (backmount twins or sidemount).

  • Dive Planning: Advanced planning techniques, including gas management and contingency planning.

  • Team Procedures: Pre-dive checks, bubble checks, descent/ascent protocols, communication (hand/light signals), and situational awareness within a team.

  • In-Water Skills: Refining buoyancy control, trim, propulsion techniques (kicks), and calculating SAC rates.

  • Emergency Handling: Managing basic underwater equipment emergencies.

  • Gas Switching: Proper procedures for switching breathing gases underwater.

  • SMB/Lift Bag Deployment: Correctly deploying surface markers and lift bags.

Weekend 2: Decompression Dive Execution

  • Advanced Planning: Further dive planning specific to decompression obligations.

  • Executing Deco Dives: Conducting planned decompression dives as a team.

  • Problem Resolution: Managing potential problems during decompression dives.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18

  • Certified Nitrox Diver

  • Minimum 25 logged dives

  • Current DAN Insurance (or equivalent dive accident insurance)

  • Completion of TDI Intro to Tech course, OR SDI Sidemount Specialty, OR documented previous experience diving twin cylinders.

Required Equipment:

  • Backmount twin cylinders OR Sidemount cylinders (with appropriate harness/wing BCD)

  • AL40 (40 cu ft) cylinder, oxygen clean, with regulator (for decompression gas)

  • Two (2) dive computers or bottom timers (or one of each)

  • Exposure suit appropriate for cold water diving

  • Reel and lift bag or DSMB

  • Two (2) cutting devices

  • Underwater slate or wetnotes

  • Compass

  • Two (2) dive lights
